Easy job and cheaper than a new water heater
Easy job. Be sure to shut off the incoming water to the water heater, and open a hot water faucet to relieve the system water pressure.Leave the water heater full or have a helper to hold it. You will need a breaker bar or an impact gun and socket. There are two different types of anode material - magnesium or aluminum depending on your incoming water quality...read up on-line. They work differently.Look up your heater model online. The parts list will show the size and type typically. When I replaced mine at 5 years, it was significantly corroded away - on hard water from a neighborhood well source.Flush your water heater every 6 months or sooner (for a gas heater - if it knocks and pops while it is heating, it needs flushing.) Sediment in the water heater tank can cause premature failure.Check the anode every 2 years...it is supposed to corrode away to protect the water heater tank from corroding.A corroded/missing anode can also cause the rotten egg smell in your water. These are easy DIY jobs. Read up and watch the videos online.

Excellent Product
Easy to install. 29 in anode rod. Tip: ensure that you have the right tools. 1- 1/16 inch deep socket and a Breaker bar and tef tape. These things are on tight so don't attempt on empty tank and don't attempt without a breaker bar. Take a look at the bar after 7 years. I'd say it went a little too long.
