Very accurate thermometer
The absolute best thermometer i have, and i have several. Usually the thermometers are about 5 degrees off when they are cheap. Not this one, it's absolutely spot on to a single degree.

pleased with everything except the whistle or it would have been 5 stars
Very well constructed except for the whistle which lost the block - shaped part with sun logo on first use and wasn't effective to begin with. I wanted a zipper pull with thermometer and compass so the Firestarter was a bonus. I will be buying a couple more for my snow jackets and I will bring a different whistle and still be satisfied. If not for the whistle I would have had to give it 5 stars.

Nice little multi-tool
The thermometer was tested in two separate freezers and two separate refrigerators to assess operating temperatures. I'm satisfied it gave me reliable readings, after which it conformed to room temperature readings inside my home taken from another unit. It is quite sensitive to the heat of your hand. Compass is very small and will get hung up if not level. The ferro rod and the striker are quite small for my large hands. One could easily fumble and lose the striker in the field. The whistle operates with gentle blowing only, not strong or hard. It's a nice little backup for the glove box of the car or attached to a jacket zipper on a hike. It's not meant to be a primary.

Does all that it claims...
... but there are tiny caveats. I'm thinking 3.5 stars, btw. Note the size in the pic. It actually IS the size they claim, but if you don't think about it, it shows up smaller than expected; at least to me. I bought this because when I'm sitting in a parking lot and GPS says go East, I don't know which way that is till I start driving and it detects what direction I'm going. Everyone deals with this and it's obviously no big deal. The fact that it also includes a thermometer, whistle, and firestarter sold me. The flint & steel make sparks easily, cool. My car tells me the external temperature, so now I can compare to internal, cool. The compass was the main reason to buy this, and the steel stored inside throws off the compass, so you have to take it apart and pull out the striker every time you need the compass to be accurate. Not a dealbreaker, but c'mon, seriously poor design, as much as I'm a damn fanboy for multi-use gadgets. I'll just keep that out and somewhere handy, since it's only for in my car, but this is definitely NOT a survival tool. Still worth the money though, at least for my odd use for it.

Piece of crap
What can you expect for 12 bucks, so I'm not really super bummed, but the whistle and the flint/steel really don't work at all, so don't get your hopes up. It was actually sort of comical how crappy the flint was since I'm a very experienced welder and mechanic who could barely get a spark out of it using extra tools in my shop. There's no way you're going to get it to work using the steel that came with it, or even a hunting knife. The whistle is just barely loud enough to make someone in the other room maybe look up and say "what are you doing?" Don't expect it to flag down any rescuers.I'm doing a 24 day ultra light weight hike and I was looking for an opportunity to eliminate gear, so I was hoping the 4 components might work; allowing me to combine at least three. The only components that may be good are maybe the thermometer and compass.

Disappointing
The compass doesn't work properly. It points north in every direction you turn it. It might have something to do with the metal ring or firestarter.

Love these so much!
It’s a handy tool if you need a fire! My husband started one for us with it! I like to know the temperature outside too. I like the whistle feature and compass too if I were to need them.
