Good little card
I needed this card for a Dell Optiplex 3010, an older computer with only 2 SATA ports. I wanted to replace the HDD with an SSD, but also wanted to keep the DVD drive and the HDD. This allowed me to do that. Very easy to install.

Great Linux compatibility, works flawlessly. For the price, it's a steal.
I had to buy external controller because the one on my mainboard started giving me errors. This little card just does its job flawlessly. Boot settings are done via physical switch - you can select ACPI, IDE or no-boot modes. Installs and boots Ubuntu in ACPI mode without any problems. The only one flaw I'm seeing is the length of its POST (it's a separate screen before mainboard POST). It adds several seconds to the boot process. Otherwise, it's great and BIOS correctly detects boot drives.

Not bootable on older systems
Fast and easy to set up. I can't boot from it however.

Using for TrueNAS Scale VM passthrough. Plug and Play.
Plug and play. Using it with TrueNAS Scale in order to pass through a UHD (Blu-ray) drive to a VM. Seemingly you are unable to pass through a specific drive, only PCI or USB devices. So I got this to pass throug and it worked right away. Can't really comment on performance but it's working for my use (ripping my 4K discs to MKV) at the same speed as my old desktop bare metal.Build quality is fine. It's not going to fall apart in your hands. Questionable heatsink quality / mounting, but it's better than nothing.

Wanted more data ports for more hard drive spots
I build my own pcs , I record music, I play video games, I hold movies and camera footage on my hard drives, I have only 3 spots available without this and usb c and usb 3.0 aren’t as reliable as Sara so put this in my extra pci express 2.4 slot and boom 3 or 4 more hard drive plug in spots via sata port directly onto the motherboard without needed usb externals , good quality and has a nice heat sink on the board

Really helped me out.
I bought a new motherboard and after putting it on with ALL my peripherals I found out that a couple of sata ports didn't work. I really didn't want to go through the extra time to take everything off and ship it back just because of 2 sata ports, but I needed those ports. Adding this to the board not only gave me the 2 ports that I needed but and additional 2 ports. Sure save me a lot of time and it works fine.

Works!
Performs fantastically with only one limitation that I have found. Some BIOS routines will not detect drives attached to this adapter in pre boot analysis. Consequently drives connected to this are not seen in the primary boot phase and select-able as a BIOS boot device. The use of a boot manager installed on a visible to the bios boot drive will successfully boot a windows OS from this device (No experience with LINUX although Linus is a great person).Have booted WinXP, Win 7, Win 10 and Win 11 from drives attached to this SATA adapter. Sorry won't try Win ME, Vista or 8.I recommend you buy 4 ports over 2 as ya never know if you will want a 3rd extra drive.
