Excellent substitute for Lugol's or ($$) Iodoral.
Contains the recommended 200 year old mix of the precursor iodide and the active form 'iodine' that all the cells need for metabolic function, especially the 'high-energy' thyroid and endocrine systems. Many other brands here contain less than 1/10th or 1/20th of what the human body uses/needs per day (per the 24 hr urine test), so a therapeutic dose of 3x 'maintenance' dose would be difficult to achieve. If your diet is already adequately high in various sea vegetables (kelp, spirulina, dulse, bladderwrack, etc), you wouldnt be here reading this.Note that 200mcg -800 mcg/day (from all sources) of Selenium should also be taken if one has nodules, cysts, tumors, and/or inflammation in their thyroid or endocrine (reproductive) system, incl. breasts, prostate, ovaries, etc., due to a thyroid hormone or iodine deficiency, which is very common in the U.S. ( ~95% of people) and any people who do not regularly eat sea vegetables like the Japanese and other similar ocean-fishing based cultures traditionally have done.Note that the clinical signs of an iodine deficiency are thinning outer eyebrows and hair, normal resting body temp <98°F (97.6°F is typical), hands & feet often getting cold, lack of energy. A viral thyroid infection (thyroiditis) is usually related to nodules forming from 'alternate' halides being encapsulated in the thyroid when the liver & body tries to MacGyver a fix to an iodine deficiency with iodide's chemical cousins. Bromine is a common fungicide, chlorine is in tap water, as is fluoride, which is a by-product of making aluminum that was traditionally used by farmers in to decrease the fertility of their livestock so that they wouldn't be overwhelmed. There are currently no tests that directly measure cellular uptake and proper use of iodine in the cells, but the Reverse T3/Free T3 ratio being over 5% in the blood can show that the normal uptake of the active form is being blocked by the inert RT3. This is how the body slows metabolism (for years(!) per a Berkeley rat study) when one 'diets' (cuts calories/creates 'famine conditions') for more than 3 days.TSH is a 70-80 year old pituitary test, and not one of thyroid hormone production or cellular uptake. The Adrenals also counterbalance the thyroid as a built in 'safety feature', thus the Coffee or Red Bull drinking and Adrenal Fatigue being common in those diagnosed hypothyroid.Quitting caffeine plus supplemental Iodine, Selenium, & a lot of Ashwaganda is said to help that. Please research all this further yourself and read Dr. David Browstein, MD's excellent book on iodide, and/or see his longer ( >1 hour) YouTube interviews for the Cliff Notes version.I hope this helps point you in a direction to find what works for you in your health optimizing journey, since most Allopathic medicine-only trained doctors are basically useless when it comes to discovering and treating nutritional imbalances, minor chemical or mild heavy metal toxicities (such as with mercury in tuna or lake fish, or arsenic in rice), or weakened immune systems from various stressors (Life in general).Iodide/ Iodine is also strong anti-bacterial & anti-viral used in surgery that does not harm healthy cells, and when consumed (in fairly high daily doses, spread out over the day) helps diffuse radiation exposure from our environment, X-rays, and/or CT scans. So adequate amounts are essential nowadays!Note: The 150 mcg (0.15 mg) RDA min. daily dose was deemed enough to prevent goiter after 30 days in healthy young subjects in a 1930s midwestern ('Goiter Belt') study. Children were directed to take 3-5 mg tablet of potassium iodide every morning until the government created iodized table salt. A slice of bread also usually contained 150mcg of iodide back then, but there is no mention of controlling outside sources in that study, and 1930s Farm kids ate plenty of sandwiches. Hence the People's current desire to restudy iodine use and up the minimum to at least what the avg. human body uses per day, so as to help prevent fatigue and various chronic diseases. The re-study has not being done by our medical industry or government for the past 100 years, nor was the body's ability to absorb 2% potassium iodide in 40% sodium 60% chloride (iodized table salt), where the two halides compete with each other ever studied. A recent private study showed it to be very poor. The average Japanese traditionally ate 12.5 mg/day of iodide/iodine and had the lowest cancer rates in the world, which is where the 12.5 mg/day recommended maintenance dose of Lugol's iodide/iodine solution came from over 150 years ago.The body actually uses about 3-5 mg/day (per Dr. Brownstein, MD), with developing teens needing more, and any excess is peed out, so it is considered safe to take in higher therapeutic doses (50 mg/day) for 3 months or so until normal cell turnover replaces the diseased or 'bad' ["MacGyver'd"] cells. If treating a disease and not just a possible or known nutritional imbalance, please talk to your ND, holistically-trained MD, or other qualified (and licensed) health practioner to make sure there are no conflicts with other things, but the above will help you figure out what questions to ask.

I NOTICE A DIFFERENCE
I've been taking this product for abt 2 months now. I started out b/c I heard the 12.5mg dosage was helpful to restore stomach acid strength for optimal absorbtion of food/vitamins/minerals. Then a couple weeks ago I started watching videos abt iodine and our overall dificiency in the US. One video I saw by Dr. Brownstein, he recommended 25mg dosage for 'the average person' (double dosage of this product, 2 tablets). And you know, I've noticed differences since I've been doing double dosage, 25mg. I've always had cold feet. That has improved greatly--I dont need to wear socks to bed anymore to keep my feet warm. My skin also had dry spots at the base of my thumb, another on my index finger, my finger nuckles, both elbows and tragus (cartilege tab at entrance of ear canal). All of those super dry brittle skin issues are improving, oils & lotions never helped. I now have smooth elbows and other skin areas improved. I notice middle of the night bathroom trips are decreasing too. My evening energy level is improving as well, and less hair loss. So I have to say yes, this iodine product is worth it and I think a double dosage of 2 tablets (25mg) daily is optimal for best results. In Dr Brownstein's vid I think he also mentions iodine detox's the body of bromine and flouride. So you might experience some minor detox like symptoms when starting this. I started with 1/2 tab daily for a week when I first began, just to see how I tolerated it. I did okay and then increased to a whole tablet daily. In any event, I'm pleased with this product and will continue using it. I believe iodine deficiency is a very real issue for most people and this has helped me greatly.

Good source of iodine
Most of us that do not live by the sea or eat seaweed do not get enough iodine. Our soils are depleted due to so much farming. I've ordered these a few times. They are consistent quality and smaller, so easy to swallow. I haven't had any issues with a poor quality shipment or damage in shipment, so I am a satisfied customer.

Noticed it working the first day.
Whew. Clearly I was low on iodine as it actually gave me energy and I felt more resilient in the cold when I was outside.

Great iodine supplement
I began taking iodine b/c my toe nails began looking really bad. I started w/ a different 1000mcg (1mg) supplement that was just kelp (bladderwrack) in a capsule, and my toe nails began growing back normally. My doc thought that I might have toe nail fungus, but fungal medicine did not help. I’m guessing my thyroid was in need of more iodine. I don’t salt my food normally, so I wasn’t even getting the minimum. Anyhow, upon starting the iodine I have noticed that I sleep better, and can regulate my temperature better. Then, after reading up, I decided to do a higher dose. These tablets so far work and cause no side effects for me.
