The College Panda's ACT English: Advanced Guide and Workbook

I found Nielson's ACT prep book particularly helpful for students like me who are transiting from old SAT to a new test.The book begins with basic concepts and practices to the advance, which help me to review all the things I need to know. I work on the book every morning when I wake up and do about 3 sections every morning, and it is very digestible and doable, the book does NOT make you want to sleep when doing it.Subscribing College Panda's email is also extremely helpful for me, I have found a lot of authenticated and practical advice for college admission.Highly Recommended!

I have read and completed the entire book. The way Nielson explains each differents parts which will be tested in ACT English sections are very clear and really easy to understand and remember. There are 29 chapters and 1 review sheet for everything learners should know before test day. The greatest thing is there are 3 practice tests at the end of the book which are precisely reflect the strength of learners. I recommend do that before you study the whole book because It will help you figure out which part of ACT English you still don't understand. However, the answer at the back of the book makes me confuse maybe because of the typo...In general, I love this book and I really recommend students who are new to ACT test should buy this. I’ve been tutoring the ACT for over 10 years and this is the best book I’ve come across for the English section! It covers ALL of the topics with multiple examples and practice questions. And they are just like real ACT test questions! The book is organized well and there is a table of topics that shows the frequency of each questions type. I will be assigning this book from now on as a supplement to the official ACT tests I use when working with students.

A helpful book. It could use more explanations in the answers.

I've been successfully tutoring students for the ACT for over 13 years now, and I was so happy to find College Panda's books. I have many students who do not know the English grammar rules! Nielson Phu's book is perfect for assigning chapters to my students. My students truly benefit from the drills, exercises, and practice passages offered to test a category of grammar issue. Nielson's explanations are easily understood, and he provides a quantity of Right-Wrong examples so that my students "get it". I strongly recommend this book and Erica Meltzer's book for all those students who need more drills and explanations for the grammar and rhetorical skills questions tested on the ACT English section.

Definitely different than other ACT review books such as Princeton Review and ACT official prep. Enjoyed working through the book and learned a lot.

As a mom of a senior in high school, I can honestly say that kids don't get easier as they grow, they get more complex! My son is an honors student with a 4.4 GPA, passed Calc BC as a sophomore, AP Chem as a junior, AP Bio/Physics as a senior. Smart kid that really struggled with standardized tests. Did fine on SAT, but not good enough to be competitive for top tier schools. He decided to have a "go" for ACTs and his first time out scored a 29 composite score. Determined to not give up, we looked to Amazon for help. We saw rave reviews, and let me tell you, the reviews DO NOT lie! My son had scored a 26 on his ACT English the first time. After 2 weeks of diligent use of this book, he just got his ACT scores back and scored a 35 on his English! His first reaction was, "Mom, I wish I had purchased the ACT Reading as well, because the Panda booked helped so much." This book is worth your investment. Of course your kid needs to use the book more than once, but for a kid who was a long time struggler when it came to standardized testing, this REALLY worked!

Wow! Test prep. for many high school students can be a daunting task. It is certainly for me. However, tremendous books like the one above (The College Panda) ease this process. When I signed up for the ACT, I knew I had work to do. I took a practice test and received and score of 26 on the English section. After I was persuaded by many friends to buy this book, I finally did. And I am really happy I did. The guide is perfect! It lists all the topics you EVER need to know. It is so concise yet so thorough at the same time. I was able to read and do all the exercises within 12 days. Upon completion, I did the 3 practice tests it provides (another great feature). I scored a perfect on the first one. I didn't believe this to be true so I compared the questions with official tests and all I can say is that i am astounded. Absolutely spot on! Thank you!
