A bit marked up for what it is, but a good end product.
What a great marketing idea this product is. To be able to sell two plain glass bottles, a metal funnel, and two tiny canisters of juniper berries and herbs for $35... the markup here is probably just as good as (or perhaps even better than) selling actual liquor in a real bar.Yet, the concept is a cool one, and having this starter hardware makes getting into gin-steeping on the ground floor that much easier for newbies like me. There were a few people at my party who tried the gin this produced, who ended up preferring commercial gin that was less herbal. However, I (and most others) really enjoyed it. I look forward to further experimentation with my own herbal mixes, now that I understand the applied concepts here. While I do feel slightly taken advantage of with regard to what you get (physically) for what you pay, helping motivated DIYers to realize how easy it is to turn vodka into gin was the real "purchase" that made paying this markup seem worthwhile. It will pay dividends in the long run.

Yummy! Very different than any gin I've had before, but I really liked it!
I bought this for my fiancé for Christmas last year because we are both big gin fans. We eventually made the gin and were pleasantly surprised with how delicious it was! We used Seagram's Vodka to make it, which isn't a particular good or bad vodka, but it is distilled 5 times, which makes for a smoother taste than say Smirnoff and it's triple distillation. The flavor of this gin is different than any I've ever tasted. It has a somewhat floral botanical flavor that pairs perfectly with tonic and is delicious enough to drink on the rocks. The kit itself only comes with enough to fill both bottles once. I wish it came with enough for a refill, but I see they now have a smokey and spicy blend and we may have to try that!

A bit to spicy
We made this gin It was fun to do, just wasn't a big fan of the flavor the botanicals gave the gin. Taste like a spice cabinet fell in the still. Have since made another gin with our own botanical mix.

Quality Kit, Fun Project
Pictured is the blend at the end of it sitting overnight in a different bottle (not the kind that comes with the kit). I really enjoyed this kit and the gin it produced. Plus, the bottles, strainer, and funnel that came with the kit are very useful for lots of other things. So you get good quality kitchen accessories in addition to a fun DIY gin project. Definitely recommend.

Great starter kit
I'm very happy with this investment. As I suspected, the instructions would have made an overly herbal (for my taste) gin, so I added the juniper/herb ingredients to 1.75 liters of Luksusowa Potato vodka (my favorite). Even with double the recommended amount of vodka, the flavor was over the top for me. (I prefer Plymouth and Larios gins, taste-wise.)As I can harvest my own juniper berries on-site, I will use the kit to adjust the herb levels -- some of which I also grow. The kit gives me all I need to experiment. (I'm not a chemist, but I am a certified Master Gardener.)

Make your own gin and drink it. What's not to like?
I bought this kit in the past and I was so satisfied with the results that I bought 2 this year. The gin came out delicious and my friends and I enjoyed it very much. I love this gin kit and I definitely will buy it again. It's so awesome to make your own gin. I even bought the refill packs that offer different flavors too. Can't wait to see how good those come out. Looking forward to it. If you like gin then I would definitely recommend the homemade gin kit.
