Charming
There's something haunting about this simple, sweet book. The illustrations have a home made quality that provide a subtle richness that many children's books lack. The text nicely describes a very real situation that's easy to identify with. There's not much in the way of a story, there's no obvious lesson to be learned - but there is a solution to friends who are now apart. Lovely.

Do not use for Dutch class
I bought five of these books to give to my nieces as I am teaching them Dutch. I am not a language teacher but I am Dutch. I did find some words that could have been better translated, especially since this is a children's book.In English- "we look like siblings". It would have been better to write "we look like sisters" as that is what is written in Dutch. The word "siblings" in the text is not wrong in itself but complicates things."I told her" should be "Ik zei tegen haar" not "Ik vertelde haar"."In very good hands" should be "In heel goede handen" and not just "in goede handen"."...and feed the ducks" In Dutch is says "to feed the ducks"."Painting"= "schilderij""Drawing"="tekening"And what irks me the most is a mistake on the back cover of the book : "nieuwe worden" instead of "nieuwe woorden". How can the book be printed with such a big mistake."Woorden"="words""Worden"="to become"I gave the books as a gift and did not double check the spelling until we started our class with the books. If I would have seen the content before I gave it to the kids, I would have sent them back. The grammar discrepancies are no big deal and the story is cute but I would not use it if you are using it for teaching purposes. The book asks for an honest review. I tried to do that. I think, since the book is about languages, it should be written correctly.

Very charming and fun for children
I think this is a good, creative and charming books for children and parents to read together. Its simple to understand and the illustrations are very good.I think the story is a heartfelt and give a perspective of what goes on in a Childs mind. I have a sister that I am really close to and we do almost the same things that the children in this book have done.I also like that it has the English and Dutch translations on the same page. I think this would be an interesting way for children or anyone to learn to read Dutch since you can see the translation from English to Dutch on the same page and in the same format.

Beautiful Book
It’s a wonderful book! Original, funny, and very creative. Ideal for my students of English as a foreign language and for my English speaking students that study Dutch as a second language. It’s for young and old.

I wish more books were written like this
What a gem this book is. Such a cute story, a great way to teach and show the differences between the US and Holland. The word swap was a great idea and way for them to share each others languages. Highly recommend!!

A lasting friendship.
In this short story, the author shows children that their friendship can continue when one of them changes their country of residence despite language changes. The book shows that communication can be maintained online with written messages and exchanging photos and images. . It seemed to me that the illustrations are not in the characteristic style of the children's genre, except for the animals that I found cute.

Cute book
This book is a great way of showing the two culture to children. It's a very cute and endearing story. I also think that it's great book for kids who want to learn Dutch with how it was formatted.
