Very funny - read this!
Fantastic stories for kids and parents alike. Recommend for 7+ year olds. It's set in a topsy-turvy school, with a number of very eccentric characters. A short chapter is given to each pupil in a class and a lot are genuinely funny, if a little bizarre! We've also read Holes, which is an amazing book. This has a very different tone but is very impressive in its own way. Louis Sachar is a great children's author and we'll be trying some more of his books soon

All great fun. Our 7 year old boy used it ...
Really quirky and unusual stories, some based around word-play, other just wacky ideas. Each chapter is essentially a separate story, but some context and continuity develops through the book - some things in later chapters wouldn't make sense if you hadn't read earlier ones. All great fun. Our 7 year old boy used it as a reading aloud book and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. We frequently found ourselves re-reading sections to his Mum.

Fun crazy stories for all ages
My 4 and 5 year olds love this, even though they don't understand all of it. I like that we can read it again in a year or two and they'll have a whole different appreciation for the stories. Plus they are fun even for me!

Just the way I remember it!!
I first read this book, or should I say had this book read to me by my Grade 3(year 4) teacher. At the time I thought it was the most brilliantly written book of all time. That was until I read the sequels. I hadn't opened that book up until now when I downloaded it to my kindle, and it was just the largest amount of nostalgic joy I've had from any book ever, and it genuinely still made me laugh(I'm 18, it's difficult to make me laugh). If you have not read this, despite it's size it is something definitely worth reading. Everything by Louis Sachar is definitely worth reading!!

Very Good Book!
Wayside schoole is a very funny story. I think the best age audience would be 5-10. Another great story by Lewis.

Lots of fun
I first read this book when I was 10 years old, and as an adult it was fun to read it again. This book is lots of fun to read and has great humour. A must read for all children.
