How to treat salted herrings in brine
Those herrings are great. Should have 5* without any complaints. But only for people who knows what to do them. First you have to soak them for 24 hrs. in cold water, then you can make several different ways ( cream, wine etc. My best and easy recipe: Soak about lb. herrings (drain after soaking). cut in smaller pc. put in bowl with 2 thinly sliced onion and cover with white vinegar. Marinate for 30 min. Drain and place in the jar, add 1 bay leaf, 3-4 allspice and 7 peppercorns. Cover with the cooking oil (I use canola oil) and let stay in the refrigerator for 24 hrs. Delicious!!!!!, even my American friends love it.

Rotten, horrific piece of garbage
Product s oversalted, dried, hard and smells like rotten garbage. Contacted the seller and they don't want to accept the return. This is the sign of a bad company who doesn't stay behind the quality of their product. Normal company will apologize and change the recipie of their product. I am not even sure that it is eatable for humans. Maybe it is for cats or something.

You need to be familiar with real herring the way it is supposed to be.
I soak salted herring in cold water overnight followed by drying and adding olive oil and sliced onions. Delicious!

Quality is super bad.
The fish was very dry, super salty and brown rotten color. Soaking in cold water and then in milk did not improove the quality. Please, do not waste your money.

Herring was cleaned
This salt herring was already deboned and cleaned. It made it so easy to make my herring salad with. The taste was delicious and very tender.
