Tough, strong & packed with features.
I was really expecting some cheap plastic knockoff that wasn't worth the money but when I opened the package today I was thoroughly surprised! This thing has a bit of weight to it so I'm not sure anyone would want to use the supplied lanyard to hang this around their neck. Lol. Made of strong, thick, durable aluminum, this this is really built to last. Love all of the features it has and it comes with it's own pouch that you can strap to your belt, backpack or chest rig. Honestly, this thing is awesome & well worth every penny.

This will get you there and back. EK-22JG
When the phone battery dies, what are you going to do? When you're in an area with a poor signal, what are you going to do? When no one is around to ask, what are you going to do? Whether you travel, live in a city or the country side, two things are a MUST. A compass and a map. They force you to know where you are going and how you are getting there. The compass body is well constructed of metal with a map scale 1:5000 stamped into the edge. The luminous dial is bright enough to allow you to see your bearings. I took it out in the middle of the night to test against the azimuth readings on an astronomy app. The compass pointed to the plants and constellations within a degree or two. So yes I'd say this compass is pretty darn accurate to go out on a hike.I have an old compass who's bezel is smooth and has become so smooth over time I can change my bearings by accident closing the lid. The EK-22JG has a tactile bezel. It is not moving when you close the cover, put it in your pocket, or bounce it around on your bag or neck lanyard. The drawback for folks that want all the bells and whistles with this style of compass is you will have to factor in the inclination in your area for more accuracy when utilizing a map. When magnetic North is to the LEFT of your location you ADD the degrees. When magnetic North is to the RIGHT of your location you SUBTRACT the degrees. Hence the acronym LARS. The earth shifts so use a current map or a geography website for the current inclination. There is also a handy little clinometer on the underside of this compass. This is a plus when I'm ready to hang some pictures around the house. Yay!For now, this one is going in the car right on top of the map in the glove box.

Great product!!
Big fan of this product. The compass is actually accurate! It is well made and high quality. Comes with multiple features and a pouch to store it in. It functions as it should and has a bit of weight. Happy with my purchase.

Very well built
I purchased this to “swing” the compass in my experimental amateur built aircraft. This is the process where one calibrates the aircraft mounted compass ($350) to detect any natural errors induced by the metal or electrical fields in the plane by comparing this type of compass from the outside. This must be done by a certified aviation mechanic in a normally certified aircraft but in a “homebuilt” plane the builder is allowed to do it saving well over $100. This unit is solid and a good value compared to the “famous” brand and should work well. Yes there is GPS but batteries don’t last forever so I plan on also packing this away on camping trips too.

Now I Don't Feel So Lost
I've recently been touring around the Southern Hemisphere, close to the other side of the Equator and realized that I have become disoriented. The Sun is not where it used to be for me in the North Hemisphere, the Big Dipper is well below the horizon and now out of my sight, there are no trees here to speak of and most winter skies are heavy overcast so I can't see the Sun or the Southern Cross. So, I tried out Google Maps, also downloaded a number of compass apps on my cell, and found out quickly that those apps are the worst on battery consumption and data usage. Great! Now I get a bigger phone bill for the data, my cell is constantly out-of-juice, no one speaks English here, and my translator is on my dead phone. Not only am I still disoriented but also feeling like "easy pickings" for the bad guys, can't call the police on my dead cell and wouldn't know what or how to say what I needed. So, I decided to purchase a dedicated magnetic compass. Actually I bought two, the Eyeskey and another one from a different seller. The Eyeskey is heavy, chunky and I love it. The other is slimmer but very heavy for its size. They both show North in the same direction. The money I save on data charges will pay for these two items quickly. Also, I can tether both devices to a couple of lanyards to make a bola to keep the "bad guys" at bay while I practice Spanish with the police on my cell phone now that I have a lot more battery life.Bottom line: For me, there is no replacement for a well-made, real magnetic compass that does not require batteries or the annoying, constant calibrations. The Eyesky I bought is a well-made multi-tool I can rely on 24/7 and it does what it says in the product description. It came with a heavy-duty, military type canvas bag to wear on the belt. The packaging was great with no harm to the other items shipped along from Amazon.

Not traditional style
No lanyard ring. The enclinmeter gets in the way when folding the top down for sighting. The lense to see the dial isn't the usual folding type like military issue. But it does point north and it seems pretty durable. Works well folded out flat.
