Dremel 2200-01 Versa Flame Multi-Function Butane Torch Perfect for Wood Burning, Leather Crafting, Stencil Cutting, Cordless Soldering

Really love these little torches. My old Portasol soldering/torch iron failed, couldn't fic it.Luckily I had the chance to use this torch from another coworker. AWESOME. On instantly good flame too. So I ordered the kit with both the torch unit and the soldering iron.No complaints , have used it about 10 times in a few month's so far. My uses are usually to release glues and retaining compounds on steel components, but I have also used the soldering iron, and the attachment for hot air to shrink heat shrink tubing. Works great and has a nice case that looks like a GIANT Sucrets/Altoids tin container.

it is very cool or should I say hot. There are safety lock outs that have to be dealt with but it's ok.

This is a slick looking product. I was pleasantly surprised, it came in a nice metal case with a lot of attatchements. It is very easy to fill and the detatchable base fits well. It was a little confusing at first becasue of the different triggers and valves but if you watch a video it wont be a problem (I didn't read the directions I was too excited to use it).The only nitpick I have is the safety, because when you move it from right to left you have to move the "button" downard which worries me because it feels pretty breakable if you aren't too careful. It is surprisingly one handeable with enough skill/practice. Flame adjustment is a simple mechanism and easy enough to operate. If you're thinking about getting one of the cheaper options ($16-20) creme brulee torches I suggest saving up enough to just get the dremel. It feels nice and works perfect for my needs (silver soldering). I've only had it for a few days so I can't speak to the longevity of it, but it does have a 2 year warranty.

Its really easy to use. However it does take a few tries, to get a hang of the safety features. But after that its no problem. It comes with every type of adapter you might need. A soldering tip so you can solder a automotive wiring harness splice, then switch adapters and use it to shrink the heat wrap tubing around your new splice. Its got scrapers so you can use it as a small paint softener and remover too. I Highly recommend that you get one if your looking!

Typical Dremel quality. I use this thing for everything, from heat sealing shrink tubes to starting smoker tubes on the grill. Easy to refill. Design is almost perfect. Really happy with it.

I assumed that a Dremel product would be a solid choice against an array of Chinese products, but this arrived entirely non-functional. The shield around the gas orifice and ignition spot was not fully attached, it was very loose, and the ignition spark was triggering outside of the shield and about an inch behind the gas orifice. It appears that in theory there were two wires that were meant to touch to bring said spark inside the shield, but they were nowhere near contact. If I forced them together it *still* didn't spark inside the shield, it appears that the silicone meant to hold the wire in place was overflowed completely covering the wire. I verified gas was not the issue - I could light it with an external lighter.I kicked off the return process and ordered a Ravs product instead, which upon arrival worked flawlessly and feels like a much more solid product.

My reason to purchase to enable me to shrink wrap wires in my car. I'm in a condo so don't have available outside recepticles.It allows me to do just what I needed. I may give it a try in soldering but just to see if it will first. I don't doubt that it will.Remember it is a hot flame creating a hot device but by no means is it dangerous to use.Well let me just say with the lack of common sense among so many people a fork could be dangerous so in those cases just stay home and never go out. Pay others. I do not suggest D I Y.Great quality by the way but 'It's DREMEL'.
